SPAM as a result of HUBB?
Hey guys.
When I signed up for HUBB, I gave a unique e-mail address. In other words, the e-mail address I gave for HUBB registration I have not used for any other purpose. Today I got two SPAM e-mails that were sent to that unique address. I have no idea how this happened, just thought I would point this out to the site admins. I assume HU does not sell our e-mail addresses, so this is most likely some crafty spammers. |

Hi,
You're right in assuming we don't sell or give away your address to ANYONE for ANY purpose EVER. See our privacy policy, link at bottom of page. What CAN happen, sadly, is that someone has that email address in their address book now, perhaps because they replied to you, or whatever, and decided to add your email address to their address book - and they are also dumb enough to have no or "not-updated-today" virus filtering on their system - and now have a virus that collected all the addresses in their address book. We do all we can to prevent email address collection by spammers, but we can't help with the idiots. We are working on more secure still systems, all to secure your address as best we can. You still need antispam on all addresses though. Note that I get over 1,100 spam a DAY, so am certainly very aware and sensitive to the issue. (I have THREE layers of filtering to deal with it!) Feel free to change the address again, just click on profile and change it. ------------------ Grant Johnson Seek, and ye shall find. ------------------------ One world, Two wheels. www.HorizonsUnlimited.com
