Please report anything odd after the recent backend update here

While you shouldn't haven't seen anything different yet, the recent backend update introduced major changes to our infrastructure.

It would be surprising if there were no problems. Please let us know here about anything odd, or things that don't work. Or indeed if there's something that you've noticed that is different; it might indicate a problem that we haven't spotted.

Thanks.

Well, I wasn't going to bother, but.....last night I couldn't get into the HUBB at all--the usual links just led to an unrelated page, though I've forgotten what it was--maybe just the home page. Today when I tried all was as normal.

But when I tried to log in this evening from a new computer the site didn't accept my log-in for about five or six tries. It didn't refuse, or give any sort of error message; it just kept returning me to a log-in screen with the spaces blank. But then it started working normally, so I forgot all about it.

I previously reported a disappearing post to Grant. I think you've got lots of weird little glitchy stuff happening, but whether there's a pattern or anything traceable or otherwise susceptible to repairs is up for grabs. Bear in mind that I'm also posting from all sorts of odd locations with unpredictable connections.

Hope that helps. If not, please ignore. It's past bedtime for me.

Normal is good, thanks!

I suspect there were some caching issues may have caused a problem or two.

thanks for the input, it's always helpful,

Grant

That was probably during the upgrade.

Would you tell us if it happens again?

Thanks for telling us.

Apologies for the login slowdown & brief outage

My apologies for the slowdown on logins this afternoon for a bit over half an hour, and the subsequent short outage as we resolved the problem. I caused it, in part while fixing another problem. We're working on finding the underlying problem, but it's a knock-on from the recent upgrade, and there's still a chance that you might see short outages. Of course that's the very last thing I want to see happening; if we do have to have the system offline, then we try to organise it at the low points unless it's an emergency.

Sorry once again.

Jeff

Thanks. Those errors should be sorted. Fixed a few weeks ago but I forgot to say so here too.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
