Filter out forums in searches

Is there anyway to filter out forums. I use the New Post search and there is an increase in 4x4 posts and now there is a bycicle forum.

It would be good to be able to filter out posts of no interest.

I use the same New Post search Steve - I use it a lot: I just look at the right hand column to see if the title of the post is really relevant.

Having said that, quite often I open a post that appears to be only marginally relevant to me and it turns out to be very interesting indeed (if only because lots of people like to write off-topic, if only temporarily).

Of course, the alternative that takes no time at all is to go directly to individual forums of relevance.

Walkabout, you’re correct about checking the relevance of the forum. When I have been away for a few days / weeks it is easier to catch up with a new post search. It would be good the filter out the sections of no interest. The 4 x 4 post have been increasing and I have no interest in their stuff. Now we have Bicycles and I can't see there being any interest there ether. It would also work for them as they could filter out Bike specific forums as well. The way it's going we're going to have a forum on Gap Year Students,

Steve

Currently best way - though crap - is to use the "Forum Jump" at the bottom of the threads, and select "Search Forums". You can then fine tune to all the forums you want - or don't want included. To select all and deselect a couple, click on "Advisories and ..." near the op of the list, hold down the shift key and use the arrow key to select down. Release the shift key, hold down the Ctrl key, and mouse click on the ones you don't want to deselect them.

On my list now - thanks to you guys for noting it - is a way to make that a lot easier - like to make a set of forums your default search for instance. Will take a while I'm afraid, so don't hold your breath - but it's now on the list.

thanks for the feedback! and by the way, no there won't be a Gap Year Students Forum, just a Uni-Grad Forum.

Hey Steve,
Don't write off those 4X4 guys so quickly....they almost always have spare gas,
cold and a tow rope!

As far as the Push bikers go...well, I like the girl version a lot....best legs going, very trim and strong as hell. Wrestling anyone? I love to pull along side on a steep climb at 3 mph while a young thing "pumps" away madly, breathing hard and sweating like she really isn't faking....

Whoops....sorry..wrong forum!

Can't we all just get along?

That was how I got into cycling, and then my general lazyness got me into motorcycling (although I still pedal a bit to try to fight the effects of old age and too much good food, fine wine and bad behaviour! I do find following a lady uphill to be very motivating - must be my male competitive spirit).

My daily commute takes me through Henley on Thames, home of the UK's largest rowing event. If you are tempted into impure thoughts by lady cyclists, stay away from lady rowers for your own virtue.

I'm off for a cold shower now, and a lie down in a darkened room!

All future posts WILL be motorcycle travel related, honest!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
