Mmh that's a bit frustrating, I seem to need 8 posts before I can send a private message... I'd still wish to reply to the one I received though...

I could keep posting flood but...

Hi,

I understand your dilemma - here's some information on why and what to do:

The minimum post requirement is very sadly necessary to prevent the scum spammers from spamming the board and all the users, which is a HUGE pain in the butt - you don't want hundreds of spam private messages and neither do I, so we do our best to protect you.

The BEST procedure is to simply discuss or ask your question/comment ON THE BOARD. You can both subscribe to the thread, and can choose to have an instant email notice of any new posts - so the lack of email ability isn't fatal.
Remember the whole point of having a Discussion Board such as this is to ask and answer questions PUBLICLY, not privately, so that the information is available to all - and perhaps save many many hours of searching in the future, or asking questions and posting answers that have been asked and answered often hundreds of times before.

If you really need a PRIVATE answer, post your question and ask for a PM reply, or have him/her pm you with their email address. (NOTE: NEVER post your email address publicly unless you really want to be on a spammers mail list).

Hope that helps!

Actually, what version of php are u using ? Since I upgraded to the latest, the level of spam is down to pretty much zero for me...

Upgrade is a big pain though... you lose your indexes and search tables and all that stuff..

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
