Lost & Found

Grant,
The desparate Chris Crash where are you and it's fast responce made me think.
Combining this and your reaction on the one where a new member asked where he just could say hello, you announced a few updates and new forums.
Maybe it's a good idea to dedicate a forum for missing and retrieved friends/relatives on the road, a Lost & Found section.

When I browse the forums I mostly use the 'New Posts' buttons, that's how I found that particular thread, but when I've been away for a while or in a hurry I just go through the forums of interest and skip the rest making sometimes important messages unnoted (at least for a while).

Maybe think about it for a while, thanks

Lost and found

Hi , I was a bit surprised by the post , I don't know if I should post my reaction since I have nothing to do with the content of the website but I don't think that a found and lost section will had anything good or positive to this already great site. We are travellers and even if we care for each other and families I feel like that will be turning into a sad or negative vision of what we are representing here. This website is very informative and there are enough negation in this world ,we know the danger of travelling , we like to help if we can but lets not start of section where soon we will talk about "the ones who fall or disapered on the road"

only my 2 cents , if I offend you I am sorry but that wasn't the goal.

Hendi, Thanks for your comments. You - and all our readers/visitors have EVERYTHING to do with the content on the site. It's YOUR site - you make it what it is - and isn't! We just try to make it a meeting point for motorcycle travellers, and make it as good a COMMUNITY as we can.

Having said that, yes, I get to make all the hard decisions in the end, but you guys make it easier by letting me know what you want and like.

So I'll just let this thread ride and see what others think. :)

Thanks!

I think Sofi-Bart answered their own question. The web site worked as is and all the interested party seem to have got together in a short time.

I'm with Hendi

Cheers,
John

Lost & Found section

In my opinion, there is no need for a Lost & Found section. As shown with the Chris Crash case, it works fine without.
To many sections make it easier to overlook things because you have to scan all sections to stay updated.

Exactly why I started this in the first place, this thing started me thinking
(and the scarse moments I use my brain I like to share...).

In the thread I mentioned, the searching party actualy asked Grant to somehow put a banner or such on the site to spread the word as fast as possible.

BTW I was not thinking about a totally negative kinda forum, otherwise I wouldn't suggest Lost & Found.
Maybe the ChrisCrash thing is abit extreme and confronting, that's probably why it worked so fast, but every now and then messages pop-up through the whole of this hubb asking around for persons met in the past on the road and such, although I wouldn't encourage to much search parties to old roommates, schoolfriends and riding buddies.
For instance, the ChrisCrash thread was put in: travellers-advisories-safety-security-road other quaries are put everywhere, momix? in sahara-travel-forum for instance.

regards

Doesn't the "Travelers Seeking Travelers" section cover this? Maybe not entirely but for the most part I use it for that.

To my mind, a post in "Traveller Seeking Travellers AND one in the forum for the area makes the most sense - normally I don't approve of cross-posting but in this instance, it makes sense, especially if you link/refer to the other post.

A separate forum that's rarely used isn't worth doing for any reason - we have lots already!
