Electronics flogging

Is anyone else getting annoyed with the electronics adverts that keep appearing for junk in dollars?

I know the first point is not to reply to these and let them drop off but can their departure be speeded up?

can you elaborate? Do you mean on the HUBB?

Or just spam in your mail box?

If you mean on the HUBB, if you think you're annoyed you have NO idea how I feel - we catch a lot of it before anyone sees it - or at least one of the moderators does - but we cannot see all. And the only way to speed up getting rid of it is with more volunteers, and more people bothering to send in a notice telling us it's there.

Needless to say - well maybe not - we can't spend 24/7 cruising every forum to see what's new and if it's ok or not.

So tell us when the scumbags hit us!

he means the "new" users that keep appearing and spam advertisements on the boards.

Right now we have a "bigbrother02" who is trying to sell nokia cellphones on 4 different boards.

Thnx

Thanks Grant - sorry for my ambiguous post but I thought it would be obvious what I was talking about. As pointed out, I do mean the posts from new 'members' on the Hubb for mobile telephones and audio equipment. I will report whatever I see - would be nice to be able to vote to 'chuck out' posts that fit these criteria (as subjective as these democracies can be!).

Thanks to the moderators etc for keeping these people out, where possible. Keep up the good work and let us know how we can help.

That's what I figured - but I have to be SURE. (you wouldn't believe...) And I did a search on last 8 hours and there was nothing obvious.

No need to vote - they're history the instant a moderator or I find out about them.

I see the note re 4 posts by bigbrother2 - PLEASE MAKE LIFE easier for me - you're looking at it - copy and paste the url into a response so I don't have to search all the forums to find it. (I have now found the posts and deleted them and banned him by ip address.)

Even better, Click the icon to report a post, then I get an email and can go straight to it in a second and zap it and ban him.

Note that there is NO way to prevent these scumbags from registering and posting their swill. All we can do is make it not worth their while by catching and deleting quickly - so you guys need to all help and let me know instantly. It really frustrates me when I find one of these posts and see that they have 30 or 50 views - and no one has bothered to report it.

sorry if I'm venting but these guys are a huge pain in the butt!

thanks for your help guys,

Grant

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
