Horizons Unlimited and You - business / introduction card

Print a business card with Horizons Unlimited info on one side and YOUR name and details on the other, with room to scribble something as well! :)

Various formats to work with here.

Excellent idea, we did similar for a recumbent cycling forum and they were great to hand to people.

One small thought, could we have them in pdf format too ? Perhaps will a large blank on the back side so we can just write stuff in - as not everyone has a pdf editor.

I'm a little confused here - if you want the back blank that's easy, just don't print it. No need for a blank "part" - that side is YOUR side anyway so you'd have to modify it or not print it.

Otherwise the Word version makes it easy - it can of course be opened in Open Office and most other common word processors.

Great idea Grant...wish I had these during my last trip...or adds more incentive to do another trip!

Errr I tried it in open office (don't know the version number .. sorry, about 1 year old I think?) and the logo on the front over shadows the first line underneath ... suppose I'm up for an update then ..?

bugger - OO is SUPPOSED to be able to read Word fine - but nothing's perfect, especially Word's handling of graphics.

You should be able to move the graphic to sort it - when you do send the file back so I can post it up for OO users.

thanks, Grant

Just English?

Grant.
Great idea. Thanks.

HU runs in English which these days is the World's language. However it is still less widely understood in some more remote areas despite the spread of the WWW.

I wonder if there is any worth in making the HU side of the card available in one or two other major languages, which members can use depending on their travels?

This could make us appear more friendly, courteous and accepted by 'locals'.

I guess Arabic, Chinese, English, Russian or Spanish would have us understood pretty well anywhere on the globe as 1st or 2nd languages.

Top job, that's exactly what's needed!

I can sort the Spanish and Chinese, though I'm not sure there's much need for Chinese, but can anyone else do the Arabic and Russian?

What about India? Portuguese?

Although we could argue that if they don't speak at least a little English the card isn't a lot of use. No biggie making translated versions though.

Grant.

Thanks.

It is the courtesy angle I was thinking of, more than the practibility.

I'll get the Russian sorted tonight - when 'her indoors' gets indoors!

I can help you with the Spanish but as you says if the website is 99,9% in English I don’t see to much benefit to use a card in others languages.

Checked version last night 2.0 something.. about 18 months old.

I played wth the size of the graphics .. did not like the result.

Putting in 2 carrage returns wiorks ..but leaves teh graphic untidy out of teh table.

Expanding the table colum to 2 cm works .. still playing with the text sizing though ..

I'll send it in ... tomorrow after I've played again tonight.

Edit
Well I have it working on one PC .. but not on another and they are 10 miles apart .. I'll sort it out but it takes time.
