I now tried the second time to enter a new shipment into the shipment database.
I do it in following steps: 1. Enter the data 2. Submit it 3. Proofread it (twice in this case) 4. Save it again after each proofreading. If I try to look at all my entries after that, I get a system message saying something like "no shipment of () unknown traveller" found. When I log out of the shipment section and log in again, the system finds only my older entry. Did anybody successfully enter a new shipment after the re-launch of the website at all? Grant: Sorry, but I won't enter any information in that database again unless I am really sure it works. Writing down the experiences in detail are quite time consuming and I am sick of wasting my time this way. Lars Last edited by Lars; 12 May 2007 at 13:45. |

Hi Lars, sorry to hear you're having trouble, and thanks for letting me know so I can try to fix it!
I'll test it and see what I can figure out - it HAS had a number of shipments posted since the relaunch, so it SHOULD work, but clearly something not right. What operating system are you using? Browser? Your computer or internet cafe? I'll let you know when I sort it! Grant

For anyone else using the shipping system - (Lars has already been replied to separately)
The system has a bug - noted on the page but not as clear as it could be (now fixed!). The bug means that if you enter a " or ' in the info fields, the entry is not saved. ![]() So just don't use a " or ' and no problem! ![]() We are planning a new system, but it's early days yet - and fixing this one is too big a deal for a small but annoying problem. Thanks for your patience, we're trying hard to improve just about everything, but there are priorities! The infrastructure upgrade has gone well, we're just finalizing some details and working on converting all the old pages to the new system. Then we move on to new systems / applications - and that's the fun part. ![]() Grant

This is a common bug in a lot of systems.. it's problematic for Irish people in particular (because our surnames are often O'Whatshisname or O'Whatsherface).
The cause is that in the underlying code (in most languages), a piece of text is delimited using " or ', which gets tripped up if you enter a ' in the text. If you absolutely must enter a " or a ', you can *normally* get around the bug by saying \" instead of " (or \' instead of ', as the case may be). |
