trophy 4 in new hands - got some questions on electrics.

hi guys, nice to find some active forum ower hare,
i got trophy for insurance company it seam to be trophy 4 with 1200 engine, all fine with 34t miles on it.
it started and goes prety fine after some months standing under the insurance case,
now one evening i sow it has lights coming down a bit once you stop exelerator and once you give some trotile lights goes bright again.
so thought you should know if it's usual for triumph or i should start worrying about generator or power regulator or anything els????
would be great to get some answers about it.

as well insurance company says it's a 1999 trophy, but this model stoped beeing produced in 1995 so have no idea what's all about, gues just a misstake in the model year from DVLA.

best regards for all triumph fans
P.s. i am personaly from lithuania but at the moment hardworking in dublin - so could meet some of you around for a ride.

Andrew's Trophy . . .

Hey there Andrew,

Congrats on getting a Trophy. I have a 2000 1200 that I took to Mexico and Guatemala last December. I didn't have a lick of trouble but all bikes have their idiosyncrosies. I'm no mechanic but this group on Yahoo is extremely knowledgeable and helpful.

I'm positive someone there has an answer to your situation.

Good Choice

Good choice of bikes Andrew.

I ride a 1996 Trophy 1200, Pacific Blue, and love it. The only exceptionis that in strong winds it is a little bit like wrestling with a snake.

I wouldn't worry about the lights dimming at idle unless you do a large amount of heavy traffic in which case I would just turn up the idle speed a bit.

The bike took a big change in body style between the 1995 and 1996 model. You should check your Vehicle Identification Number if you are not sure. The 1996 models started at 29156 so if your number is lower than that it is a 1995 or older.

An excellent resource is triumphrat.net

This bike will get you many miles and more than one second glance.

Have fun.

Rick

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
