Triumph Thruxton

Hi All,
I am considering buying a Truxton, the first one that I have looked at is this years model with 810 miles up. It appears to have an oil leak. After a few minutes of starting from cold spots of oil appeared on the floor below the left hand side peg. Is this normal on a modern triumph?

I've got one a Thruxton (ordered it as soon as I knew they were going to create a Cafe Racer) and really love it. Have toured Scotland on it and done 5 or 6 track days - where it is wicked :-)

To answer your question, mind does not leak and it has 12000 hard miles or more on it.

Main thing to say is they hate the salt so the clutch and alternator covers soon look horrible if you use it in the winter but other than I would say 'go get it!'

While I'm at it best mod to make is to dump standard airbox and replace with K&N's - really opens up the top end revs and makes it pull like a train

THere is a very good forum at: Club Cafe - TriumphRat.Net

Thanks for your fast response. I have had a look at the site you suggested and it doesn't seem to be a common problem.

Nowadays, it isn't normal on any modern bike from any manufacturer; walk away from this one and look for another, or get the dealer (?) to fix it, or use it as a lever to negotiate a big discount from the asking price.

Nice bike though!
