Tiger crash bars.

I need to fit crash bars to protect the engine and petrol tank on my 02 Tiger, what are other owners using and can reccommend ?
I was lucky the first time i dropped it as i managed to wedge my knee under the tank and lifted it back up, i may not be so lucky next time.
Cheers Ade.

Jack Lilley do engine bars for the Tiger and the set on my Tiger have served me very well indeed!
Have a look at Jacklilley.com

I put crash bars from Touratech on my Tiger. Looked good, installed easily and were plenty stout.

I'll second the Touratech vote. Look good and have done the job too. Just make sure you torque up the engine bolts to correct tightness otherwise your engine tries to escape..

Are the Touratech bars easy to get.

I have struggled to get anywhere that has them in stock just now.

Although I havent tried touratech yet.

Touratech Crash bars

Hi ade I opted for the touratech bars and also have a set of bungs on board.
The combination meant that when Tara went groundwards 2 up and fully loaded she didnt even get a scratch on the Tank . The panniers and bars did all the work. The touratech hand guards have also proved much better than the originals.

bought some fehling crash bars arrived today, £136 inc VAT & delivery.

Look out to me.

ourade 31 Oct 2009 09:32

Thanks for the advice, it seems touratech are the most popular bars, and they work. The fehling bars are half the price of touratech has anyone binned it with the fehling bars, if so did they work or was it false economy?
I have just started a new job after being made redundant 6 months ago, so i have to use the tiger for commuting to Cardiff so the chances of dropping it have increased(i will get the hang of filtering soon).
Cheers Ade

I eventually bought some Fehling bars and fitted them today. £137 from Triumph Online. Ordered sunday night and arrived wednesday morning.:thumbup1:
Cheers Ade.

I came off last sunday relatively low speed 20mph. Fehling bars worked for me.

I dread to think what the damage would have been without them.

ourade 12 May 2010 11:13

ooooops

Sorry you binned it.:oops2:
Glad the fehling bars worked.:thumbup1:
I hope you are ok.
Cheers,
Ade.

Bike has some cosmetic damage, I have a damaged big toe (will probably lose my nail).

Apart from that the bars more than paid for themsleves.

Off to Turkey in Ten days.

I fitted a set of engine bars from Triumph on line to my 885i. They did their job last march when a car pulled across infront of me and left me nowhere to go but down.
The front brake eventually locked at about 40mph and the Tiger went down on the left side and slid into the rear wheel area of the car, i luckily slid past the rear of the car on my left shoulder.

The front fairing was destroyed and all the electrics behind it mangled but the side of the engine and gas tank were pretty much ok. Sadly the bike was totalled but the good news is that the insurance company was really quick about settling and i was able to replace with a newer 06 Tiger which has Touratech bars already on it.

Hope it's a while before i test these ones.
