Safari Tank for Tiger 800

I asked this question and just got an email back from Aqualine/Safari Tanks:

'Thank you for the enquiry, this has is becoming a very popular bike.
We are making good progress with the design for a larger tank for this bike
and will have a tank available mid year, approximately 30litres.
There will be more information available on the Safari web site getting
closer to the release date.'

Sound like another good reason to buy a Tiger.....now I just have to persuade the missus....

Just have to way up the cost of the Safari vs. 1/2 Rotopax containers. Where do you plan on taking this thing?

kind of got used to having a good range on the DR650, not sure where next trip is yet, maybe a UK/Russia Aisa trip in a few years.....

Just fitted one to a used XC that I bought in Utah, holds about 30 litres or 8 US Gallons. Range seems to be approx. 350 miles depends on load and treatment.
Not the best quality Safari tank I have bought but looking past that it does it's job well. It's certainly an attention grabber, everyone says "I've never heard of a bike manufacturer called Safari, were are they made?)"

Oh, they are also $250 cheaper to buy in the US than they are in Australia. For those that aren't aware, they are made in Australia

This is my first Triumph, what a jet. Just love to hear that triple rev

Thanks for the info, how are you getting on with the Tiger ? any problems or things you don't like about it ?

Ive taken a roadie 800 on a test ride, the engine was pretty sweet I must say. How do you find the handling of the XC off asphalt? Ive heard a few people say it feels fairly top heavy, does the Safari tank make much of a difference ?

I've only done 5000 miles since picking it up last month, so not really qualified to give a long term review just yet.
What I have noticed so far;
Replaced rear shock spring to cope with the silly load
Side stand switch is in a crazy spot and had already been damaged before I bought the bike. It's now zip tied in a higher spot
Replaced the counter shaft sprocket with 1 tooth smaller, there was too much clutch slipping going on to get it off the line

I think Triumph did what others have tried and failed to do, they got it near spot on in the first attempt. Well done

Overall it's been a good choice for the job, look forward to clocking up many more miles

We will be up near you in early July, might look you up when we get a bit closer
