Has this happened to anyone else?

Recently my beloved Triumph Trophy 3 starting spluttering like a dog chewing a wasp. Having just filled up I assumed it was dogdy fuel so had the carbs cleaned and balanced. Unfortunately it made no difference. After running it on a rolling road the bike cut out completely and when we checked found the camshaft pickup had disintegrated and wrapped itself round the shaft. As we had only replaced this a few months ago it would have been the last thing I'd have checked. Anyone else had a pickup go so quickly?:funmeterno:

Never heard of one going so quickly, maybe a bad batch?

Hi, do you mean the crankshaft position sensor? on the right hand side(as your sitting on the bike) behind a round cover down low on the engine?
If this is the sensor you mean then the chances are the sensors 2 mounting bolts came loose and allowed the sensor to come in contact with the end of the crankshaft.
Hope this helps.
