Warning: Shipping Kuala Lumpur to Perth
On Monday Sept.16, 2002, I left my F650 with Kuehne & Nagel, Kuala Lumpur to be shipped by air cargo to Perth. They assured me that bike would not need to be crated, and would go on Malaysian Air Flight 125 the next day. Cost: US $1,000. I bought my ticket for this flight (US $400), and went. Next day the bike hadn't arrived (in Perth). On Wednesday K.& N. Perth informed me that Malaysian had not accepted bike on pallet. It would have to be crated. Would I be willing to pay the extra US$300? Of course. What other choice did I have? The next day still no bike. Instead the cost of crating had increased to $500. I agreed. The next day, still no bike. Apparently Malaysian had cancelled their flight. The bike finally arrived a week later in a luxurious wooden box, which could have held three bikes that size. It cost me an additional US$800. To add insult to insury, the freight company in Perth, where I had to pick up the bike, charged me $40 disposal fee for the luxurious wooden box. I feel that K.& N. used extortion to get more money out of me. Be warned!!!
