Urgent Help Required! RO-RO SA to UK. How was YOUR experience?

I am very close to having organised shipment of my truck from SA to UK but the shipping agent is now telling me NO PERSONAL EFFECTS are allowed in the vehicle!!

We plan to ship from Port Elizabeth. Has anyone here done this?
What can anyone tell me about their experience? How seriously must I take this? Their official line is all I am getting and that is that they cannot be responsible for any theft etc. hence NO PERSONAL EFFECTS.

The shipping agent also says the Customs Exam will search the whole car and remove personal effects or anything else if they feel so inclined.

I have only a week to finalise or change my plans so if Anyone can shed any light on this for me that would be fantastic.

She shipped us back but in a conny but if your truck is to big it would go on a flat rack,any way have a word with her she,s good at her job,she told us about the ro ro service but it was big money and they transhipped somewhere.
