Urgent advice please

The short story.

Fell off and broke my leg near Calcutta.

Need to send the bike back to Australia, (where it's registered) as I can't leave it here and come back later. Other commitments later in the year prevent that solution.

I have to go to the UK (where I'm registered) and put my leg up for six weeks.

So the question is this: How easy is it for my prospective father in law (I mentioned my other commitments) to collect my bike from the airport in Melbourne on my behalf? I can send him the rego papers and the Carnet, and I can consign the shipment to him. What are the problems he might face when he gets there to pick it up?

I'm pretty much in a bit of bother right now, so I'd really appreciate all the help and advice you might have.

Thanks

Hi Skidder,

Consign the bike to your Father-in-law by all means, but best you employ a Customs Agent to effect the Customs Clearance.

I recommend you contact Ian Hunter ian@ihhunter.com - Ian is at Tullamarine and this is the type of work he normally does for me - I ship motorcycles to and from NZ and the UK in 40' containers.

As long as the bike is consigned to him and you send an explanatory letter there shouldn't be any problems.

Good luck with the healing.

Thanks bud.

It's all coming together. Both the shin bone and the shipping, but it's all slow and a little painful at times.
