Ulaan Bataar to Moscow / Trans Siberian Train

We will be driving from Belgium to UB and are looking to go from UB to Moscow (or so) by train, so 2 pax and a bike. Then the last part ride again.

Anyone done this?

I've been sending mails to trainticketvendors but nobody answered untill now.
For us it's not a problem, found online ticketing at 300€pp for UB to Moscow but nothing for the bike...

So if you have some info about where and how to book this, all is welcome! Certainly concerning the bike.

I'd be very surprise if you can get your bike on a train in Mongolia, and even more if you can cross the border with it on the train. Post number 31 at http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/hub...trains-46783-3 described how a HUBBer got his bike from Irkutsk to Moscow.

Or freight it back to Germany/Belgium via www.paneuropa.de and Sybille at Oasis Guest House in UB.

Or contact Yuri in Vladivostok (you'll find his details by Googling "site:horizonsunlimited.com Word1 Word2", the HUBB search function is useless....). He's a recommended agent who might be able to arrange for a truck (or train) to move it within Russia.

Freight within Russia is easy to organise. Money and the ability to communicate in Russian helps. Freight into or out of Russia is a much bigger obstacle.

Let me know how you get on. I have similar plans for 2013.

cheers
Chris

Ok, I'll have a look at what you're suggesting.

I was just saying UB, but anywhere "in that area" is fine, so no problem about getting back into Russia first. I'm just not sure if we would make it to Vlad, as we will try to not rush things.

I'll keep this post updated!

That would be me... :thumbup1: it deffo helps if you speak Russian or have someone who does. I had the run around in Moscow trying to find my bike when it arrived: Hitch Reunited Adventure Vagabond. Let me know if I can be of any further help.
