UK to Malaysia bike shipping?

HI folks!

I'm a first time poster - long time follower. I'm in the early stage of planning a long over due trip to SE Asia and I'm in need of some advice please. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience or advice on shipping or flying their bike from the UK to Port Klang in Malaysia? And also, rough costs from experience. Any help or even just a point in the right direction would be greatly appreciated. Trying to trawl the net to find companies has left me a wee bit bamboozled!

All the best,

rDMC

Hi i would try wallenius wilhelmsen southampton to port klang or singapore but i would not recommend singapore too many expensive rules and regs for bike and rider, its a roro, so no crating.lots of people use james cargo who are very friendly and easy to use
we have just left kl a week ago and are now waiting for our bike to turn up.
cheers, ben

My info is 4 years old, but at least back then Malaysia was officially a carnet-country, clearly listed on my carnet, too. They seemed very relaxed about it at the land border coming from Thailand, could have easily entered without it. But I don't know, if shipping in could be different (many have used Pt.Klang, but I've no idea, if they had carnets or not). Hopefully someone with personal experience from there can answer.
