During our trip last year through the America's we've met a german guy who shipped his BMW from Germany to Ecuador, by plane. Getting it out of customs/airport took 45 minutes, no problems whatsoever.

BMW g650x in a box .UK ( my front door in Widnes) to the port of Suriname was £380 plus about $100 to get the bike out and on the road . Took about 2 weeks (9-10 days shipping transit time ). A good option

I think if you don´t like BA maybe another port is Montevideo.Brazil is custom nigthmare! Also Ecuador from many travellers reported as slow and corrupt.
Valparaiso is an often taken chance.
It all depends on how you like to do your trip also.
Keep us posted.

I'm looking for this information too.

Partcually those ports that are the most hassle free.

Does anyone have any experience with French Guiana? As it's still part of France I would have thought that shipping from France to French Guiana would be pretty straightforward.

Alternatively shipping from Netherlands to Suriname. Anyone?

Who did you use for this?

Suriname

I´d like the name of shipper from Suriname to Europe. I met a Dutch guy in Ecuador three years ago who had shipped from Rotterdam to Suriname for less than I paid to airfreight my bike from Panama to Bogota!

I´m in Argentina now exploring shipping to Capetown, South Africa, but am considering getting to Suriname to ship to Europe at far lower cost, even though it is much farther.

In 2011 I airfreighted my bike from London to Quito, Ecuador with a company called James Cargo. Bike arrived in excellent condition and the customs process was very quick.

in 2010 I shipped a yamah a XT600 from Suriname to amsterdam . 495 euro all in with global expedition . No crate needed. the agent in amsterdam picked me up from the campsite took me the bank then to the warehouse to get my bike.
Suriname is one of those places that you need to just turn up and speek to people to sort out your shipping but all shipping agents speek english

Hi Kito,

Can you let me know which company did it for you or maybe a contact? I'm planning a trip to Patagonia with my other half and the 800GS for November and currently checking options and this seems really good!

Many thanks,

Sandro

Re: uk to south america other than buenas aires.

Friend of mine shipped the bike to Buenos Aires with Gravel Road Logistics: www.gravelroadlogistics.com . The owner's name is Mirko and he is very helpful. You could ask him if he also ships somewhere more north. Cheers, Greg
