Toronto-Calgary by train?

Does anybody know if they will allow you to put the bike on a train from Toronto to Calgary and about how much this would cost? Would it have to be crated?

Hi

Unfortunately, in Canada we have passenger trains and freight trains, and you can't usually put a motorcycle on a passenger train. ViaRail is the main Canadian passenger service between Toronto and Calgary, and they only accept bicycles as baggage. Motorized vehicles are actually in the list of prohibited baggage.

So you will need to arrange the motorcycle transport separately from your own transport. Try http://www.motorcycleshippers.com which does ship motorcycles within Canada and the US.

Good luck and please let us know how you go!

In North America, the easiest way to move a motorcycle around is to send it with a household moving company. Heck, the Harley-Davidson riders do it all the time - they would never dream of actually RIDING one of those overpriced pieces of butt jewellery between two cities - might get an insect stuck on it, or worse.

Try this link for starters - this company (Allied Van Lines) is one of the largest North American household moving companies (removal companies, for the Brits).
