To the usa, buy there or ship?

I have read many threads on here in the past about whether to ship to the states for onward travel or buy there...I have always seen some good bargains in the states in the past, but have been looking lately and they just dont seem to exist...not on ebay or craiglist anyway..the bike in question although it applies across the board is a bmw r850 or 1100r...I cant seem to find any cheap ones..(I have had 2 bmws r850r, mine were 900 gbp and 1500 gbp in London, both old but run great) Anyway, is anyone planning to send bikes across the pond in the next few months Miami area pref. (cos now I am thinking of taking mine )and needs someone to put another bike in to split costs? I am on a budget, as always guys...
I have also posted on the bike exchange in the hubb, to see if anyone stateside wants to do a straight swap for the same model over there....you never know....My r850r to swap is in Madrid, Spain, by the way...

Bmw cheap

Well.....I bought a 1995 BMW R850R for 900 UK Pounds (about 1080 euros) 4 years ago through GUMTREE in London....I put 30,000 miles on it (about 48,000 km) and only needed a used petrol pump (20 pounds from bmw breaker in Woodford) for it apart from usual items, then sold it in Madrid for 1450 EUROS after using and abusing it for 4 years.....are there any other bikes makes you can do that with? So sorry mate, but for me BMW and cheap are the same thing..

Maybe in Europe they are considered more reasonably priced, but I guarantee you that you won't find many cheap parts for a BMW here in North America. BMWs carry a premium price that is on a par with the Harley brand name.

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
