Southamerica -> New Zealand/Australia

Any suggestion or experience how to get our motorcycles and us from the south half of south america to New Zealand or Australia?

If I look at a world map the best solution at first sight might be to ship them from Chile to NZ and follow by plane.
We are open for any other idea.

Any suggestions for a stop on some nice islands for us between SA and NZ?

cheers

Panny

Hi Panny

i am a customs broker in Australia and can arrange the shipping for you from South America

The first thing you need to decide is whether you will ship by air/sea and if you intend to bring bikes in via a carnet (this is like a passport for your motorbike that allows for duty free/tax exempt entry into Australia and around most of the world)

Happy to give you a quote but will need to know more about the type of bike and whether you are able to supply a crate for shipping for instance

The bike will need to be crated to protect it from other cargo and because there is no direct sailings from South America to Aust/NZ and the bike will stop over at 3 different ports and be re-packed into different containers along the way

Happy to explain further if need be

Just contact me on ismoljko@y7mail.com

Good luck with your trip

Rgds

Ship to NZ if possible. Then shipping to Aus from NZ is very expensive (and vice versa) for such a short trip!
Make sure your crate is made from H3 treated timber (if not steel) as there are strict agricultural laws in to both countries. You may also have to get fumigated as well.
Many good island desinations in the south pacific, but you may have to fly from NZ to these anyway. I have never heard of flights from SA direct to pacific islands.
Anyway the Cook island would be my pick!

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
