Shipping with DHL

So I just shipped my bike from Cameroon to California and by chance I stopped by a DHL office.
It turns out they were the cheapest option and they would even build the crate for me.
Unfortunately they only accepted American Express or Cash (no Visa at this office)
But from Douala to San Francisco it was about $2000 US for everything , gaurenteed 10 day delivery.
Oh yeah I was shipping a 300KG overloaded GS.
I ended up shipping with Swiss Air (who took Visa) and paid $500 more.
Swiss air was very good, bike showed up 4 days late but they didnt require a crate.

You mean you ended up with $2500 in the end?! Might it been better idea to ship from Cape Town maybe?

Cheers, Margus

Hey Josh - Mike (formerly from Sarajevo) here,
So you shipped your bike back? I was under the impression that you'd left it in Cameroon to continue riding at a later date. Guess you couldn't do that if you weren't sure.
Meet ya in Iceland in July!
