Try the shipping section in (Getting there in the planning section) and look for my experience Bris to Vancouver about this time last year. Most of the info will be relevant to you. Well worth it to ship just depends on how long you plan to be over there.

Is Seattle close enough?
 

We shipped our bike in July from Sydney to Seattle. I contacted Stewart Garmey from Tradelanes Global Solutions. That worked well for us, from conversations I had with him shipping the bike back to Oz would not be a problem either.
