Tomorrow I'm going to the agent who is shipping my bike from Durban to the to pay their bit and now it isn't cheap to export a UK bike back to the UK, £400.00 worth of coupons would you believe. I think that the locals have forgotten that the world cup was last year. If I can control my rage I will ask them what it costs and what sort of palaver is entailed bringing a bike in. Ride safe.

Good luck with that! If you could summon together enough patience to ask them, that would be awesome. Thanks alot!

Just so you know our bikes are costing us $1500 to ship from perth to johannesburg (via durbs). We flew them from central asia before and that cost us $5000. Its bloody costly this riding the world lark...But we love it!

May the wors be with you.

Hi, firstly, Africa is in the main, magic even if you have to pay through the nose to get in by sea. I'm presently shipping out of Durban to the UK and the local costs, admin etc. comes out at ZAR4000.00, do your own conversion, port and custom charges are high and land border crossing cost ZAR00.00, crazy or what. The agency I have been dealing with would not come up with a figure but asked that you get in touch. keegan.coopoosamy@wilhelmsen.com is the e-mail address. Another option for advice is Thomas whose e-mail is motozulu@telkomsa.net he will offer lots of good advice and may be able to give you a better option. Ride safe.

Nice!

Thanks for that. I'll get in contact with them and hope for the best. Cheers for the effort, much appreciated.

Good luck with your extraction from the dark continent, be strong...

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
