Shipping out of Dakar

Hi all.

Down in Senegal at the moment and am pondering shipping the truck back to the UK rather than make the return trip. What I'm after is whether anyone can let me have the name of a reliable sea shipper out of Dakar or maybe Ghana or Banjul.

Any recentish advice would be gratefully received.

Thanks in anticipation

Q,
Grimaldi freight cruise line runs up and down West Africa and they allow you and your bike to travel. I think they will take the bike only but the arrangements are different to that of passenger and vehicles.
They have a sailing once a week, they also call in a Dakar on the way back from South America.
I don’t know how the cost compares and it's not what you would call fast.

The Port of Dakar is located behind city hall/"Hotel de Ville"...see pic below...

On the Place d'Independence there is a major travel office and an AmEx affiliate...poke your head in there and the ladies there can help set you off in the right direction...lots of vehicles come into Dakar on boat...so there is a ship that leaves the port with space for sure!

Hello

Looking into west coast shipping at the moment. Might be worth while looking at
http://www.maerskline.com

They have some handy maps that show routes etc, I cannot vouch for their reputation.

Best of Luck

Niall

You mention you're in Senegal but also thinking of shipping from Ghana...

Do you know if it is a difficult journey trek between these 2 destinations?

Reason I ask is I';m looking to ship from Walvis Bay to Senegal and drive on to Eire but can't. An alternative is to ship to Ghana and then drive on!!

Cheers

Niall

Thanks people.

V frustrating because the firm in the shipping section doesn't exist now and I've been given the name of a reliable agent but the wrong number!
