Shipping LA to Santiago. Suggestions?!

Trying to air ship my 12GSA from LA to Santiago, to beat the winter and then ride north from TDF. Got a $4,500 (!!!!!!!!) quote from a shipper in LA recommended by Susan, several years ago from a thread search I did.

Anyone have any good experiences with this route??

Thanks.

LanChile Cargo

I plan on shipping two bikes from Santiago to LAX in April. Lan Chile Cargo quoted just under $1400.00 for a dr659 and a bmw f650. I believe it is double that to ship from LA to Santiago.

Does anyone have an idea what the cost is for the time between the bikes arrival at LAX and the time they are picked up? It may be a few days of them sitting at the airport....

Was quoted about $6.00 + fees per kg by LAN Cargo from LAX-Santiago. Looks like it will come to about $2000 to ship the R1200GSA... Not sure on the timeframe yet. Will post final costs and schedule when all is setup.

i just got an email from friends that were charged by volume to fly bikes to new zealand from santiago on lancargo. i would guess that both weight and volume make what cost would be....

update on price to lax from santiago. more like $1200.00us per bike.... a little less for dr650.. oh well...

Bad news ( for me at least)... Lan Chile employs some obscure formula where they charge you by weight or by volume, whichever is greater. Long story short, they want like $3100, not including crating...

Managed to reduce crate size. 110 cubic feet, 450kg, $2445 LAX to SCL ...
