shipping dakar to UK

hey all,

i'm sure this must have been done loads of times, but can't find the info using the search, so here goes... I'm planning to ride to Dakar over the next few weeks and then hopefully get my bike shipped back to the UK. questions are:
1. will I be able to sort everything out within a few days once I get there, or should i plan ahead?
2. any idea how much it should cost to ship by air (bike is an XR400, so only weighs about 120kg)? is it much cheaper by sea?
3. is dakar the best place to ship from, or would it be easier or cheaper from any other countries nearby?

i'm planning on flying home myself with air france (cos i have air miles with them) if that makes any difference

thanks in advance for any help
Nick

You might consider shipping back from Banjul in The Gambia. Obviously not as big a city as Dakar but english speaking if your french isn't up to negotiating prices etc. To get yourself back there are frequent charter flights to and from the UK at reasonable rates.
Shipping my XR600 back cost me about £300 four years ago.
