I know that this information is sorely out of date, but is there any updates information that would be cheaper that the 1100$ Usd cruise?

Once you get in Panama go to Colone port and look for captain Pedro who runs banana boat name = Dori Gil= and for 300 US is going to cost you to transport motorcycle to Turbo,Columbia and you can take Cuna Indian's boat ride to same city for additional 100 US with stop over at Obaldia and Capurgana for immigration stamp...
I did it last year and head a blast...
Hope this my help.

safe ride ................. kawazoki

Sorry to ask way too many questions, but how does one deal with the Temporary Import papers if taking the banana boat. Do you have to get your export inspection in Panama then find a port of entry in turbo? Also did you have to take three separate boats or just one with the three stops? I have read several write ups, but each seem to explain that they took different boats between each of the cities.

Cheers in advance!

Once you get all settled with captan Pedro transport....right by the gate is custom office which is going to stamp your papers for a fee of 15 to 20 US and this price can be negotiated....and boat story is that you haw to take 3 different boats to get to Turbo,Columbia but they are connected so it is actually hopping from one to another ....great way to cross the D.Gap

Safe ride

BOATS NOT ACCEPTED IN COLOMBIA (Mar2017)

although it's 2nd hand info from guys currently dealing with this drama, apparently there were too many 'cowboy' sailing boats not doing the paperwork properly or at all and Colombia has just decided to shut down the ability of ships entering with bikes! The Stahlratte is currently off to Cuba, but would always do the paperwork properly, and the Wildcard was working closely to get this decision reversed. It looks like the guys who paid deposits on the Wildcard are still going to go on 22March, but we are going to ship with someone much cheaper and I've sent a few people ahead of me all with 100% ease and success. So I'm not here much, but please friend me on fb and send me a message if you want more details on shipping across the Darien...we are shipping around mid march in a week or so if you care to join.

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive.
