I am trying to get my 09 KLR from Alaska to Vladivostock around may-june but cannot find a resonable shipping option..cheapest quote so far 3500.usd.. Would any of you guys that are trying to get bikes the other way just want to sell or maybe trade??

3500USD, share the shipper please ? That is cheaper than the 4000USD I have been quoted for Vancouver -> Seoul (and then we need to get a boat after that)

The people are Alaska terminals but they contacted the Seattle office to get the cheaper 3500 quote, I don't know the Seattle # but the AK # is 1-907-349-6657 the quote was from Seattle to Vladivostock. If you have a couple people in your party maybe we could share a container? I would just rather buy a another bike than pay 3500 for shipping..

We are 2 bikes and will be wanting to ship out of either Seattle or Vancouver around the 20th -> 25th May.
Does this fit with you ?
Was the 3500USD for the container ? Therefore cheaper with 3 bikes ?
How many days does the container take ?
We are also looking at using the RoRo from Tacoma to Vlad.

3500. US was just for one bike but I think a whole container is around 5000. So if there was three of us that should be under 2k per bike, that would be down where I would consider shipping. I'll get back ahold of a couple different people on mon to see what the cheapest 20' container is from Seattle or Vancouver to Vladivostock and you guys can check too. Maybe we could even find a fourth person to make it even cheaper..

3500-4000 USD to send one motorcycle across the Pacific? I haven´t sent on that route, but sounds a bit steep. And is that for airfreight or seafreight?
(Is it just me, or is every shipment into or out of Vladivostok very expensive)?

I could be the 4th person if you can give a firm ship date and app. arrival date.I was wanting to fly to Korea.But as BruceP said it would save time,trucking,and ferry expenses by going direct to Vlad.

I have called a couple Seattle based companies and they are getting some estimates together, you guys can check as well, the more places we check the better. I would be looking to have my bike depart north America some time in May, hopefully early- mid may but I know a couple of you guys were thinking late may, I wouldn't want to be much after the 20th as I have to be in in Romania by mid July. it takes 20 days to a month ball park to ship the bike and go through customs. To ship a bike you have to have the original title with no bank liens.

That is for air freight to Seoul, no one has come across a direct flight route to Vlad.
Air frieght costs have been going up astronomically in the last couple of years (IMO) so sea freight is becoming a better cost option. If you can find a route.
Containers usually just cost a once off sum and the cost comes down with the more people filling it.

Around the 20th is good for us, but I still prefer the RoRo option as it is a 14 day trip. (The container 20days+ option will be do many days out of our 91max.)
I am still trying to make contact with a shipper to organise it.

No doubt prices will keep going up.
But just as an example, there was someone not so long ago, who sent a mid-sized bike from Kuala Lumpur to Europe (Amsterdam, maybe) by air, and that cost in the region of 1000 euros. Quite reasonable in my opinion. That is a flight time of 10-12 hours, too, so distance is almost comparable to crossing the Pacific.
I know some places will be cheaper to send to/from than others.. and also it´s not certain at all, if I were to fly a similar bike KL->Amsterdam next week, that I would pay the same price! But still, the difference to quotes listed here seems enormous.
Has anyone tried LCL-type seafreight between North America and Korea/Japan/Russia? That should not cost a fortune (but you´re usually required to crate the bike). For reference, I´ve payed (5 years ago) a total ~700 euros to send a DL650 from Sydney to Helsinki. That´s about 15000 kms, as the crow flies. Shipping took 2 months, though. Still I was surprised, that you could actually freight the thing half-way around the planet for that money.
