Shipping from Vladivostock or Korea to the USA End of August 2012

We will be travelling from Italy to Vladivostock, Russia by motorcycle then we will be shipping the motorcycles to the US either from Vladivostock of from Korea. We might take the ferry to Donghae, Korea - we are trying to plan it– At that point we will want to ship 2 motorcycles to the US. The period will be the end of August maybe somebody wants to split a container.
The motorcycles ( BMW 1200 GS ) weight 230kg or 500 pounds each empty ( probably around 280 kg or 600 pounds with luggages ) -

A 20ft box ex Busan to Seattle - Long Beach range is about USD 2800 and loads APPX 18 tons. 40 ft box is about USD 4400 and loads APPX 22 tons ,,
If you can't share the box due to schedule,, call Wendy Choi and have her use Wallenius Wilhelmsen Ro-Ro ,, costs about USD 1,000 including docs and transit time is about 10days to Tacoma, Wa ,, south of Seattle or 14 days to Long Beach, Ca.
Those going to Alaska in a container , will have to use feeders ex Seattle via feeder service such as Crawly maritime and will cost you an arm and a leg.
For container ,, you will need boxes made for the bikes or have them do the lashing and securing.

Also LCL option, to send single bike,, is great,, cost about USD 1,000 for all inclusive box, packing and docs.

I can recommend
For ocean freight ex Korea to US, Asia and Europe. Only because they have the volume to consolidate and offices in most continents. It is a Sam Sung Group of companies.

Ciao

It is for ocean
20 ft (6.1 m), 8 ft (2.44 m), 8 ft 6 in (2.59 m) carrying 18tons ,, 6 bikes easy ,, seen 8 Harleys go in.

I bet most of the forwarders will not quote now ,, since end of August is far away.

Wallenius will quote early. No packing, no container ,, just roll on like a ferry.
Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics - Offices and agents - Search result

2011 March ,, I've paid USD 850 ex Incheon to Long Beach for my Harley at 330KG 2.4m x 1.1 m x 1.4 meters.

Here we go Paolo , ,
It was posted on another thread, while back ,,
Make sure you give the weight and measure of your bikes..
Get a rate from WW then have Wendy Choi do the export documentation,, USD 100 per B/L ..then you must drive to the loading port be it at Incheon or Ma San ,, have Korea customs PERSONAL CARRY ITEM inspection team give you the stamp. Then hire a forwarder in USA ,, give them well in advance your bike's EPA status and B/L number etc. Make sure your bike has the EPA approval under Home Land Security act ,, or you will be stuck for weeks at the US port.

Hi. I am a solo rider currently in Iran and working my way eastwards through the Pamirs and Mongolia and are also looking into sharing of container or other great way of shipping cheap, quick and easy. I was considering DHL by air, but all included it will be €5000 for biker + rider from Vlad to USA (Includes ferry from Vlad €500) . I can be in the Vladivostok area sometime around the 7-12.August, but can be a bit flexible on that. Every shippingday includes one day at hotel so preferably quicker than 2 weeks shipping.
If anyone found any shipping by air which is cheap it would be great.

MasterMoDlx 22 Jun 2012 20:04

we are a German couple on two F650GS - will also be in Vlad during the 2nd half of August. We want to ship to the United States as well - port of entry doesn't really matter (cheapest wins). We're up for a container sharing!

lifeinitaly 23 Jun 2012 14:34

I was unable to find a reasonable flight / shipping. Yuri ( mentioned in this thread ) proposed a 20 feet container for $6000 - The container will be shared by several bikes but it takes 40 days to reach the US . What do I do for 40 days ?? Also proposals for shipping the bike air from Korea are around $6000 per bike which is too much considering we will be shipping the bikes again from US to Italy + we need air tickets ourselves. If anybody finds a good solution please pm me or email me about it -

I also received a quote from Wallenius ( Kindlly suggested by seoulJoe ) but the transit time by see is 30 days and it is not guaranteed. The ship can be delayed since it is Monsoon season -

Ciao Paolo

Please keep us posted on this.

Were in Mongolia at the moment and can be in Vladivostok to meet others that may wish to share the cost of shipping bikes over to either US or Canada.

We are 2 up on a 660 Tenere.

Thanks, Dazzer and Leigh

I saw two bikers twice ,, all four and a rider and tandem ,, all heading towards Vad ,, few days ago ,, could this be some of you here?
It seems ,, every time I ask to stop , only the Poles , Ukrainians and Russians stop to chat ,, Anglos too tight butted to stop?
If you see a guy on a white Harley Road King ,, stop and say hello ,,
ROad being perfect from Vlad to Chita is a sheer BS ,, it seems to have degraded in a year ,, too many hazzards ,,, pot holes ,, bumps ,,, and yes consteuction still going on ,,gravel is easy ,,, its the hiddeb stuff that tjrow you outr into a whacko ,, life threatening kind.
