Shipping bike from East Africa to Iran

Greetings!

Does anybody have information on how to cross from Africa, preferably East Africa specifically Nairobi, into Iran?

Currently I want to ride from Congo to South Africa and then up East Africa and go to Iran. I want to avoid Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

I haven't found much that's up to date.

Hey Bünzli

I would forget shipping out of Nairobi or Dar es Salaam. Both harbors are a nightmare! Maybe look into the option of flying your bike with Air Ethiopian or something like that. Or how about Djibouti to Oman?

I should have clarified, by shipping I didn't mean travelling by ship but moving me and my bike in any way except actually riding my bike. Ship, airlpane, truck or donkey.

This seems to be a good starting point for my endeavour.

Seeing what he paid for the ship across the Persian Gulf I might as well fly.

I have not been able to find a direct flight to Iran from Eastern Africa, so going via Dubai seems to be the way to go. Flying into Tehran would also mean I can get a visa on arrival which would save sending the passport around, further facilitating things.

You might want to check on visa restrictions on independent powered travel in Iran, I was told a year or so ago that foreign motorists had to be escorted at a cost of $$$ per day. This may not apply to all nationalities
