Ship to Panama? How much $$$?

Sorry - I keep trying to get a quote from shipping companies to get a bike to Panama or Nicaragua in March or April 2004... no luck. How much will this cost realistically? Thank You.

From Tn or??

Have you read the links on the left: Getting There

Travellers

There's a ton of info, including almost 200 shipments by travellers. None the exact route I think you want, but you should be able to extrapolate.

Once you get there, what's the plan?

The plan is either to ship there, then ride from Panama back to the states, or vice versa and ship the bike back. From the quotes I got off Wallenius Wilhelmsen, it looks like about... $500 from Savannah, GA to Manzanillo, Panama, and $650 if I send it back. So, since $$$ is a factor, I'll probably ship it first... although that means one month less of riding practice... and the bike'll have sat for a month before the trip... we'll see. But yeah, big trip back, hoping to hit Managua and Mexico City to visit friends and surf/snorkel/dance as much as I can otherwise.

Wanna come? Thanks for the tip.

Wanna come? dumb question... http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/smile.gif sadly can't... http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/frown.gif

Note: I would ABSOLUTELY ship back, not to. The odds of it being there, on time, and without a huge hassle getting it out are way too high. $150 is peanuts compared to the aggro, fees etc, especially if it isn't there for some reason, and there are MANY that could keep it from being there as promised and signed in blood. In other words, they (ALL shipping companies) lie and screw up with amazing regularity.

Hey - thanks for the tip

On second thought, this definitely sounds like sage advice. And $150 is peanuts in the grand scheme, you're right, but hopefully I'll have it all squared away before hand, we'll see.

I'm just now getting out on my new (1991) Beamer! Wow riding is great!
