Santiago or BA
 

Which city is easier to fly 2 bikes into. Santiago or BA? Also considering the assistence dakar motos could be with the process.

I need to book our tickets soon and have only those 2 to choose from. All flights land in santiago also and are a bit cheaper. Keep in mind i've never flewn bikes, only ever shipped them.
We'll be riding around the continent clock wise if we land in BA. Same for Santiago but would go south to the tip first.

I can tell you from flying int Santiago that it is very easy. It is not nearly as big a city and in fact the airport is very easy to get around at. I flew in last January and also flew my bike in there. I had to walk from the main terminal out to Lan Cargo which is like at the end of the airport. I ended up walking it 3 times and it was no big deal. Customs is very easy and it is very friendly place to do your paperwork. They are getting more and more bike traffic so they really understand and will work with you. I know the flights are a lot cheaper as well. I have heard that BA is very large and even if you have a great dealer there I think the hassle of dealing with such a large city would make it a easy decision for you.

I'm planning on riding my bike from Washington State USA to TDF and coming back up to Santiago.

1. is it easy to ship bike and me on same flight out of Chile to USA West Coast - or maybe into Mexico and ride back home from there?
2. How much does it cost?
3. Do you have to build a crate for the bike or do "they" provide bike containers? And,
4. who exactly are "they" (which airlines -cheapest) that fly out of Santiago to West Coast of USA?
