In Panama and our boat's been cancelled.

My friend and I are in Panama City with two 1200GS's looking for a boat to take us to Cartegena after the 13th January. Any ideas?

We had a similar problem about a month ago. We just sucked it up and flew Girag.

If it helps we were going to take Fritz the Cat. you can try contacting him to see when he's sailing.

Thanks. We'll exhaust all the boat options before we fly. We'll email everyone on our list again, including "Fritz". We're looking to doing the San Blas so we were hoping someone might have a hot tip for us. Thanks again.

You're aware that people don't sail this time of year because the sailing sucks, right? It's not for lack of business; it's for excess of bad weather.

I always suggest people ask Stuart from Mamallena Hostel. If he doesn't know anyone sailing, I'd probably fly--there may be a few dregs still making the run, but there are some miserable times on some of those boats.

Someone reported here a couple of weeks ago about a boat I'd never heard of. You might search for that post if you haven't already.

Good luck!

Markharf is right (as usual). Fritz is the only one going and it is rough trip. Friends did it two weeks ago and eveyone was sick. They docked at midnight at Cartagena and were kicked off the boat.

Its rough at this time of year and can rain on san blas - I'd fly.

I'm also in Panama City - going to get my bike crated today to ship to South Africa. I'm also on a 1200, think we may have stayed at the same hotel in Santiago two days ago????

Thanks for the info Mark. We'll check it out. I guess we won't waste too much time but it would be good if we could sail.
Dom, if you're flying a Union Jack then yes, it was us in Santiago. We're at the El Parador just off Via Espanol in Panama City if you're around.
Thanks again guys.

Okay, thanks everyone. We sucked it up and used Girag to take the bikes to Bogota. Too bad about the boat. We'll backtrack to Cartagena starting tomorrow.
