need contacts for shipping a truck out of Djibouti or port of sudan

We are currently in ethopia and hopefully on our way to cairo.

If we can't go to egypt in the next couple months i need to come up with another exit plan for my land cruiser camper.

I am currently looking into djibouti or port of sudan.

thanks!

contact the guys at www.55-33.dk

Hi Glenn.
Try to write the guys at 55-33.dk
I know they went the opposite way not to many weeks ago, so they might have some ideas.

Their site is in danish but they speak perfect english so don't hesitate to contact them, but remember they are also in transit at the moment so I don't know when they'll be online next

Good Luck

Hi Glenn

Because we couldn't enter Egypt without Carnets, we shipped two bikes from Port Sudan to Aqaba (Jordan) last December ........absolute nightmare dealing with the shipping agent in Port Sudan. If you choose this route, you are required to use a customs agent on both sides (Sudan and Jordan). I will never do it again....i'd sooner strap my bike to my back and swim across the Red Sea.

Because you're not on a bike, you have a better option. There is a ferry that runs from Suakin (About 30kms south of Port Sudan) to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. You can get visas at the Saudi embasy in Khartoum without any problems. Just be warned though that the embasy is only open for a very short time in the mornings (not Fridays) and it is a shoving competition. There are immigration agents working the crowds, but when we were there, everybody who used them complained .......best to do it yourself.

Good luck

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
