Moved to appropriate forum: Shipping bike from Ldn to Cape Twn or Ldn to Namibia
 

Can anyone help me with some advice about who to use to ship a bike from London to Cape Town, OR London to Namibia, either by air or ship? Have had no luck searching the HUBB website. Also what paperwork is needed and how much it will roughly work out???

I contacted James Cargo Motorcycle Shipping, Transport and Freight and Simpsons Simpsons Removals & Storage Ltd - Kent, UK and international removals company, relocation, storage, excess baggage. re shipping a GS ex UK to Capetown and back. Both helpful, quoting around £2.3K to £2.5K for the return trip IIRC. This means that after about 20 to 25 days you will break even on a rental (although there may be some associated costs to cover such as transit insurance etc.) I'm sure savings could be made, but the prices I got were to include crating and documentation. Didn't seem much more expensive to fly the bike there (much easier if time is an issue apparently) which surprised me.

Gotta be MUCH less stressful when the going gets tough and the likelyhood of ending up on your ear increases! :rolleyes2:
