Leaving the bike in Thesaloniki, Greece

Hi everone.

I am planning to travel with
my bike from Switzerland to Thessaloniki in September, leave the bike there over
winter, and continue towards Turkey, Syria, Jordan in April. Do you think this
can be possible? Any problems with customs, etc. (I can't leave the bike for so
long in Turkey), Do you know anyone who has some safe space for a motorbike in
winter?

Thanks a lot for your help.

hi,

as Greece is a member of eu, you can leave your bike there without any paperwork. you just need to find a place to keep it.

in Turkey, you can leave it for a six month. however, before you leave the country you have to go to customs in istanbul. there is a customs park place. you have to leave your bike there and do the paperwork to leave the country without the bike. you have to collect your bike within 6 months. parking place is death cheap and no payment for customs clearance. all paperworks take about half a day. it is very close to the Ataturk airport in istanbul.

hope this helps.

Salut Patrick

I speak a little bit French, but prefer English for writing. I live in Bern. When are you planning to leave? Do you have any target? I want to continue to Jordan via Turkey and Syria next Spring, in April or May i guess.

And what's your bike?

Ali
