Kathmandu to Bangkok

We arrived in Kathmandu and had to fly to Bangkok with our bikes. Nepal is brilliant, a beautiful country and one of the highlights of the trip so far. After India it's strikingly clean and the people are all very friendly. We loved our stay there and it was a shame we couldn't stay longer. The boys and girls at Eagle Exports made our life a lot easier. We had a hectic schedule and were tired and grouchy from a very rough few days in India but they took it in their stride, sorted the bikes our with no troubles and even got us an earlier flight for a good price. They also bought us beer and you can't ask for more than that.
Unfortunately we did have some trouble in Bangkok. We got to the warehouse and a guy working there helped us with our paperwork. We paid a $25 storage fee and were then given a bill for $150 each to release the bikes. When we argued they offered to lower the price so we knew straight away this was just a scam. It turned out when we spoke to customs ourselves that with a carnet the service is completely free. We had no further problems.
Please be wary of people helping you, it's not the first time we've been targetted while travelling.

Hi

Did you make prior arrangments with the agency for your bike before arriving Kathmandu or you arrived Kathmandu first and then make the necessary arrangments?
