Getting the bike home Turkey / Syria / Jordan

Hi folks,

I'm still keen on going overland to Jordan, however I'm looking for the best place to ship the bike back home (Belgium).. anyone have advise !!! I wanted to finish at the Red Sea, but I'm thinking it would be cheaper and easier to ride north back into Turkey and have it trucked from there ?

You wise comments welcome....

Salut Matt

As far as I know there's a ferry connection from Syria to Cyprus. From there onwards shouldn't be a prob. But I agree with you - it'll probably be best to return to Turkey.

They say Turkey is the trucking hub of the world, traffic coming from Europe meeting traffic heading north...

Can anyone recomend a freight handler in / around Turkey / Syria / Jordan ... truck would be ideal if its cheaper... would I need to crate the bike or is it safe being tried on ....

Many thanks in advance

Matt

My advice: crate it if you can. Even if you see the bike strapped down with your own eyes there is no guarantee that it won't be taken out and moved about to make way for other loads along the way.

See below for some Jordanian-style freighting which involved damage to both bikes.
