From Holland to Germany

Hi everyone,

the better half has just purchased a vintage bike that's located in Holland, and we will need it transported to Bavaria.

I found bikemoversuk.co.uk. but haven't received a quote yet. Does anyone know them? Are they reliable?

Does anyone know what other companies transport bikes within Europe?

Thanks in advance!

You may want to look for one located on the mainland (Germany or Holland will be best for your purpose), not in the UK. I suppose that will make it much cheaper. Google "Motorradtransport" or the Dutch translation of it and you will get a lot of results. I haven't used any of these services yet, so I cannot recommend any companies.

Hey mate,

If you are more specific about the place where the bike is locates right now and where the has to go it's much easier for us to help you. Also with prices it's easier to calculate.

Cheers Richard

Why not rent a van or a trailer and get it yourself ?
Holland to Bavaria is just one long day ride.

Thanks guys.

The bike is located in the north east of Holland, in 7863 Gees.

We would like to have it transported to us because we think it will work out cheaper. We have one quote so far (from that company in the UK) for EU 350 including insurance. It will cost us 400 to hire a van, and that's excluding the petrol. Plus it's a time thing as well. Our car doesn't have a towball so we can't just hire a trailer.

If anyone can recommend a reputable company that can handle vintage bikes, it would be highly appreciated. Cheers :)

Actually some friends of mine used the same company you mentioned to get their bikes back to the UK, when they had to leave their bikes down here with me, a very well-equipped van and trailer turned up one morning and we loaded up the bikes, making sure there was a lot of space and padding left, since the driver had to move a Brough Superior (!)from germany to Holland later that same day...
My friends also mentioned that the quote was quite good considering the distance involved.

Right, the bike has arrived and I thought it might be of some help for others if I posted our experiences.

We used Mototrans (Kent) Ltd | Chas Mortimer | Motorcycle transportation | Ebay / Auction deliveries | UK | Europe | Ireland |Worldwide. We paid 380EU from the top of Holland to the bottom of Germany (cash to the driver, including insurance). Chas was easy to deal with and the van was tidy and in good nick. All bikes were tied down professionally. We would certainly use him again.

Hope this might help :)
