Ferry Indonesia Australia

Dear friends,

We want to know, if there is any ferry or boat between Indonesia and Australia??

We are now in Dubai, getting our ferry to Iran on sunday, inshallah.
Our bikes are fixed now, ready for the trip to Australia!
It will take some time, until we need that transport. But good, to have some informations.

Thanx

I must be missing something - the above link would appear to concern ferries between Indonesia and Malayasia. Please clarify. I only ask because I will be heading that way in 2007 and would like to do the indonesia to Australia link. At the moment I'm intending to ship out of Dili in East Timor.

Many thanks in advance, Baswacky.

Oops, sorry I didn't read the heading correctly.

No, there are no ferries whatsoever to or from Oz. In my opinion there never will be, due to quarantine regulations. Even the roro freighters between Oz and NZ don't take vehicles.

Hi Ralf and Eva,
there is no Ferry but a RoRo without any problems. We did this in August 2004 and after us many other bikers too. Perkins is the only shipping company in Dili but they know what to do. You both have to travell by air.
If you want some more information have a look at the HU-board Shipping or send a mail to us.
Best wishes

Ahem, what I meant is that you can't ride your bike on board, you have to crate it and go through the shipping rigmarole. http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/ubb/redface.gif

So, your info is certainly correct.
