Hi Corne

First I've ever heard of a ferry from Ghana to Cape Town. Where did you hear about this?

There are some sea-freight companies which are international, and if you were planning to ship the bike in Africa I would definitely go with a large reputable firm.

P&O Nedlloyd has offices in Ghana:

For some useful information on shipping yourself and the bike by sea (assuming you wish to travel together), see this thread:

Good luck, and let us know how you make out!

Hello - I shipped from Accra to Durban last July - spent a couple of days trawling round the agents at the Tema docks until we found a decent price - as far as I remember about $700 US for the container - I was lucky, shared it with a Landcruiser. Maybe your best bet is to try to find a 4X4 to split costs with.

The container took a week or so to travel down. I'll try to get the details of the agents we used in Durban and get back to you.

Update?

We are looking for a possibility to transport our two motorbikes from Accra, Ghana to Namibia (or South Africa) either by sea or air freight. Our time frame would be mid April 2014.

I have been contacting a few companies but the response rate is pretty low as of now. Does anybody have an update or can share own experiences?

What has worked for you and how much did you pay?

Thanks in advance!

Did you ship your bikes? If so can you post your experience and contacts? Send you private email.

Greetings, GvR.

No SA for us

Howdy, our plans changed. Since the officials made such a mambo when coming with dogs to SA, we changed our plans and went to the US instead.

Our experiences from that are documented here:
