East Coast USA Air Freight to Spain / Portugal

Hi all --

I'll kick this off with the usual preamble that I've been up and down the HUBB and can't find any pertinent information about what I'd like to do. If I missed something, my apologies!

Here's the poop: I've got a Vespa P200 that's trying to go around the world, it weighs 130kg, it's registered in Serbia under my name, I'm Canadian, I have an expired (but presumably extendable) carnet for it, and in the interests of lengthening the actual land-based portion of my RTW attempt, this October I'd like to ship to a warm, western portion of Europe before I ride it back to Belgrade. I see that most posters to the HUBB ship to either London or Frankfurt or Amsterdam, none of which is exactly ideal.

My dream would be to get the bike from NYC to Lisbon via reasonably-priced air freight, but something tells me that might not involve a direct flight. Barcelona and Madrid would be OK too.

Thus far on the trip I've had experience air freighting with Korean Air, Emirates, MAS Kargo (avoid! avoid! avoid!), and Lufthansa, so I've kind of been around the block a few times. What amazes me is how different the experience can be from airline to airline.

Anyhoo, does anybody out there know if this is possible? NYC or nearby to the Iberian peninsula?

Cheers,
JVM

Have you found anything yet

I'm thinking of shipping to Spain in Feb...I can send with Schumacher Cargo for about 600 USD by ocean freight...takes a few weeks to get there.

I think air is about 1800 USD these days...at least Lufthansa is that high.
