Do I need a freight forwarder in Belgium?

I thought going home was going to be the easy part, maybe not.

I am in the process of shipping my english registered motorbike back to England from Colombia.

It is on a vessel called Horn Cap operated by Horn Linie and the motorbike will be discharged in Antwerp.

I have been told I need Antwerp freigthforwarder

Quote "if you do not have anybody than we can pass you on to our sister company Herfurth log Antwerpen import dept who most probably can help you . "

Quote "Y need an ANTWERP FREIGTHFORWARDER
>who will handle the proper customclearance etc here in the port;"

Anybody done anything similar, know in NYC when airfreighting I did it all solo, so many ppl talk of doing it solo, will this be the same in Belgium

Can anybody give me a heads up

Paul

I believe you'd better

I wouldn't know where to start without a fraight forewarder.

I used Ucomar

http://212.113.81.125/Comp_home/U/UCOMAR/ucomar-fr.html

getting my belgian registered car released by customs took longer then any of the 25 or so african bordercrossings I did because they didn't know how to handle a car that didn't need importing. After 4 hours or zo they found out that a car that was imported already didn't need importing anymore.

Succes

I live near Antwerp and work near the docks. If you need "a man on the ground" for any reason let me know and I'd be happy to help. I also speak the local lingo which can help sometimes. If you don't get any joy finding a forwarder , let me know and I can check locally who is recommended.
Cheers
Gecko

Membership - help keep us going!

Horizons Unlimited is not a big multi-national company, just two people who love motorcycle travel and have grown what started as a hobby in 1997 into a full time job (usually 8-10 hours per day and 7 days a week) and a labour of love. To keep it going and a roof over our heads, we run events all over the world with the help of volunteers; we sell inspirational and informative DVDs; we have a few selected advertisers; and we make a small amount from memberships.

You don't have to be a Member to come to an HU meeting, access the website, or ask questions on the HUBB. What you get for your membership contribution is our sincere gratitude, good karma and knowing that you're helping to keep the motorcycle travel dream alive. Contributing Members and Gold Members do get additional features on the HUBB. Here's a list of all the Member benefits on the HUBB.
