Shipping from Panama City to Bogota by air

Just sent my bike from Panama City to Bogota Colombia.
First came to DHL office in the airport asking for a price to send the bike. it took them 2 days to come with a price of 1600+$ Then I called Girage, they gave me a price on the spot 901.28$ including everything with all my gear and everything. the bike was in Bogota on time and in great condition.
(I took Copa flight - 348$ to Bogota)

I Panama City call Girag (find thier no with goole) ask for Ms. Loose

Copa Air Cargo is even cheaper (just over $600) and you also don't need to crate the bike. Service was great. Disadvantage is that they only fly one day a week. Not sure if it still is on Friday, but that was the day when I shipped mine last week.

We're planning on being in Panama the end of December and hoping to ship ourselves and our two bikes to Colombia.

As it sounds like both Girage and Copa ship on Fridays (Jan 1) would it be any cheaper/easier to make reservations now rather than waiting?

$901 vx. $600 is a substantial price difference, any thoughts on why this is? Service, reliability, whatever?

Yoni-was Copa an unknown option or did you choose to not use them?

Steve-did you ship from Panama to Bogota or the other way around?

Thank you all for this helpful info!

Cpoa not an option

According to the emails I received from Copa earlier this week, they have suspendede all bike shipments untill November 15. This is current info, straight from Copa. I hit Panama tomorrow, probably go with Girag.

Panama to Bogota or other. Anyone with updated info?

Hi everyone, I wonder what the situation is now regarding shipping with these two cargo airlines. Anyone coming up with new info regarding shipment days, prices, better options, etc.

Contact Girag, they still fly bikes from Panama City to Bogota or do a search here as there is some current info on pricing. Dates are flexible as they fly daily and depends if they have space. Sailing across is the cheaper option.

AFAIK Girag is the only game in town. US$900. Do a search for more recent thread than this one, here or on ADVrider.com.
