Custom Clearance Costs, Bangkok Airport
 

Does anyone have recent information on clearing their bikes through Customs at the airport in Bangkok, Thailand?

Did you do it yourselves or use a local Forwarder?

Below is an estimate that I received from a Freight Forwarder in Bangkok to clear my bike through Customs. 30 Baht = 1 US Dollar

Looks a little expensive to me.

It was some time ago when I did mine and despite other people paying up to $200 to "helpful" people at the airport I did it myself for nothing. It was a complicated process but everybody was helpful once I got to speak to a genuine customs officer not somebody trying to make something from it.
I presume the price you quote is in baht and it looks expensive to me so it could be worth just going to the airport, early in the day and try it yourself.
Perhaps others have more up to date information.

Came through customs 25th July this year and did it myself, it only took about 3 hours. Ignore helpers who wanted 5500 Baht ( £110/$175!). People are really helpful so don't fall for the scams. Cost breakdown is as follows, (oh yes, I brought the bike in on Korea airlines and their handling was carried out by Thai airlines in Bangkok airport)
Cargo Permit Fee - 30 Baht
Delivery order fee - 200 Baht
Cargo terminal charges - 625 Baht
VAT - 59.85 Baht

Total of only - 914:85 Baht!

I don't remember any other charges and can't find any more reciepts so that should be it. Hope this helps, it was a lot easier than I expected.

Transported from Mongolia to Bangkok, It went via Seoul. I used a chap called Bayaraa. His contact details are below. They did an okay job. Note: You MUST call them for updates as they will not inform you of any difficulties, just let you go on believing that all is okay if you don't contact them:

Costs were 3500US which was expensive, but riding on across to Vladivostock, taking ferry etc, I still had a quote from Wendy Choi for the same amount from South Korea.

One other thing at Bangkok airport, at the entrance you must go into the building just on the right and get an entry token/sign in. This only costs less than 30 Baht but if you don't have it they will not let you in past the security further along which means a bit of a walk back again!

Did Customs go through your crate?

Do you need to itemized all the items in the crate?

Just curious since I am sending my riding gear, camping equipment and spare parts with the bike and did not want to end up paying duty on these items.

Did not itemise everything, just general descriptions of top box contents. I left the key with the top box in case they wanted to check it on outbound customs, but at Bangkok, I had no problem.
Customs lady just checked the frame number (not actually the number, just that it had one!) and then waved it through. I was getting some local chaps to tansport bike in the container on into the city centre and she even checked that I was not being ripped off by them! Bangkok airport was really well organised and a simple procedure.
