Current schedule for ferries from Flores to West-Timor?
 

Hello!

After crossing Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Malaysia we finally reached Indonesia 2 weeks ago! :-)

At the moment we try to find out how often there is a ferry from Flores to West-Timor and some people say, that there is a ferry twice a week, other people say, there is a ferry once a week and another people say that there is only one ferry every two weeks!?!?

So if anyone of you know the current schedule of the ferries from Flores to West-Timor, that would be great because we are a little worried about our Indonesian-Visa (that the time is to short) if there is really only one ferry every two weeks!

not too sure if this reply is too late but the ferry runs from laratuka, flores to kupang, timor twice a week. if i remember correctly they go on fridays and mondays.

the phone numbers for the ASDP ferries are 0308890420, 0308890388, 08123771169, 085237046165, 081237942022, 081353979730, 081339480625. dont know why there are so many numbers but if you try them all someone will pick up at least one of them but get someone that speaks indonesian to call. they dont do english in that part of the world so well

Current ferry schedule from Ende/Flores/Indonesia
 

We currently (02.04.12) went from Ende in Flores to Kupang in West-Timor. At the moment there is 1 ferry a week every Monday between 7 a.m. and 10 a.m. so you should be at the port around 7 a.m.

Our ferry arrived at the Ippi port, but there are 2 ports in Ende so check carefully at which port the ferry is arriving!
The ticket office opened at 8 a.m. and we paid 230.000 Indonesian Rupiah each bike (including the rider).
There are cabins for rent on the ferry, but they are awful and dirty and the crew wanted 500.000 Rupiah for a cabin so we decided to sleep between our bikes, which were not too bad because the ferry was not too crowded!

If you have to wait for the ferry in Ende, we can recommend the Hotel Ikhlas. It is not too expensive and they have WiFi and the owner, who is speaking English very well, is very helpful with checking the current schedule for the ferry!

I know this is late, but just some more info on Ende. I was going from Kupang to Ende and it goes twice a week. BUT! Sometimes the ferry stops at the walk-on dock (as it did in my case) and they lift the bikes out of the ferry. It takes 6 guys to lift a 125cc scooter up and across the gap. A 1200 BMW? I didn't try and went to Sumba and then back. So, if you have a big big, check to see where the ferry is leaving from unless you want to try the lifting thing.

Oh, and they also see money when they see you, so if people do help you expect to pay aboput 150,000-200,000 for each bike. I didn't really try, so you might pay less, but...

I finally took the ferry from Larantuka to Kupang. Everybody told me there are two a week but it seems there are three.
The ferry left from the pier in the town, no problems to load the bike at all.

I just took the ferry from Ende and they picked up and put my KTM 990 (350kg wet and with luggage...) onto the boat without any issues. 4 or 5 guys doing the actual heavy lifting and 20 guys standing arond shouting directions and advise... Paid 150,000 rupiah after haggling. In Kupang the boat docked at the RORO dock so could ride off.
