Cuba Trip & Registering Euro Bike in US

If any of you have been to Cuba, you must have noticed what I did: Ideal for riding! Little traffic (I'm from Los Angeles, so that's a relative statement), great weather, scenery gallore. No MC rental possiblity though. So, my choices are to buy a bike there (mostly Jawas and CZ with sidecars) or bring my own (tougher since I live in the US and there are no direct flights to Cuba), or I could ship a used GS or F650 from Europe to Havana on Lufthansa but what would I do with it after my 2 month trip (Could ship it to Mexico and ride it home! But what about the hassle of registering a Euro bike in the US?)?
Ideas, please. My kingdom for an idea!

Importing a Euro bike into the US is extremely difficult and can be very expensive. This is without considering the cost and hassle of shipping to/from Cuba.

Our best advice would be to buy a bike in Cuba and sell it when you leave. That is by far the cheapest option, and even if the bike isn't brilliant, you should be able to get parts for it if needed.

An intangible benefit is that you are less conspicuous as a 'foreigner', and may be more welcome if riding a local bike.

Good luck. Please let us know what you end up doing, and how it all works out!
