Cost of Bogota to Panama by air ?

Does anyone have the most current rates for shipping by air from Bogota to Panama. I don~t know if they are the same as Panama to Bogota. Would like rates for Girag and Copa.
Also, what day does Copa ship to Panama?
I´m in Brazil and expect to get to Bogota in about 3 weeks.
Thanks

Hi

I don't know but I am looking for a motorbike in Bogota. So if you fail to find a cheap connection, let me know :)

Cheers

I remember in 07, we paid $550 each per person + bike from Cartagena to Panama by sailboat and the flights were only slightly more then, maybe around $700. Its probably gone up a bit sinces then so I'd budget on around $800-900 perhaps.

Shipping with Girag

We used Girag to fly our bike from Bogotá to Panama City in May 2009. They asked 800 USD (in cash, no credit cards accepted) for that. They have flights almost every day, so if you deliver your bike in the morning (by 9 AM), you might even be able to pick it up in Panama the same day. Bear in mind, however, that before your bike is put onto the plane, you'll have to go through customs procedures (luckily we were assisted by an employee of Girag) and a thorough search by anti narcotics police. It will all take a couple of hours, so you will not be able to fly away immediately after you've delivered the bike.
Unlike with many South American companies, Girag is easy to deal with - they do answer the phone and e-mail, so you can get more current information.

colombia to panama

I am planning on shipping two bikes from Colombia to Panama in March 2010. I'd prefer boat. Is there a best place/city to go/ship from in Colombia? should I book something in advance or just arrive and start looking? Is there any info here on hubb about that? I am new to the site and can't find anything about it. Thanks a lot.

COPA, another option?

I (opposite of FilipMoravian) am shipping two bikes Panama to Colombia in late February. I'll certainly post whatever we learn here on HU. Just got an e-mail back from Copa, and they indicate they're restarting service to Medellin in "mid-November", so maybe there'll be a bit of competition. Also be nice to have more options than just Bogota.

If anyone is interested, the contact info they provided is:

Has there been any new info on the Colombia - Panama flights yet? Anyone flown a bike North in the previous month or so?
I'll be looking for air transport for the moto from Cali to Panama around mid March or so and would welcome any updated information on associated costs that people may have.

We flew the bike from Bogota to Panama in February 2010 with Girag for the cost of 725$ (fixed price). Takes no time at all and is very simple.

Was the $725 for bike alone and if so how much for you to fly.

725 was for the bike alone. We paid something like 350 each to fly with Avianca.

I shiipped from Panama to Bogota couple months ago with COPA for less thatn $700 US, and abouty $380 for me. Staff at both ends were great. I went right to airport in Panama City (cargo area, a few km past airport, have to go around runway to other side) and right into COPA office. You will see Cargo signs... I tried email but was ineffective to went right to offices. Girag there too.
I met some people who took boat and who were quite frustrated with that experience, but depends on skipper and schedule I guess.

Good luck
Larry

so for going from Bogota to Panama, same deal...just go to cargo area near airport and find COPA and Girag offices...assuming you are in Bogota...
If you can do better by email or phone that makes it more convenient for you, maybe things have improved in that regard.
Larry
